advocate n. ~ a person who argues for or supports a cause
Advocates take an active and direct role in missions by adopting unreached people groups for awareness, prayer and engagement.
Their primary role is to focus attention on the lostness of Hokkien speaking people around the world.
With Hokkien Harvest there are three approaches to advocacy and two types of advocates.
Three Approaches to Advocacy
Two Common Types of Advocates
- Resource-Focused Advocates
- work among Christians in their home country to promote the stories, needs, and opportunities for ministry among Hokkien people.
- share newsletters, prayer updates, cultural information and field reports, representing the on-going work of the Hokkien Harvest Team.
- may never travel to the field, but are instrumental in recruiting personnel and securing funding for specific field project needs.

- Field-Focused Advocates

- engage in cultural research to better understand general field needs and gain the expertise needed to fill specific field needs.
- “Short-Term Missionary,” “Missionary Plus!” and “Strategic Evangelism Partnerships” are three field-focused ministries with Hokkien Harvest.
